More work…

Who knew starting a photography business would be so much work? I just love to take pictures, I love to edit and I love to see the outcome of a good days work. But when you are asking for money for what you are doing… you have to expect more of yourself. You have to expect your best! Research has become my best friend! I am upgrading my camera for many reasons, so what camera do I want? What lenses do I need to go with that new camera? Why? A lot of questions that have this old grandma actually a bit stumped. Its not just about doing something you love, its about doing it well! So what do I need my camera to do? I guess all the way around I mostly shoot portraits. I totally enjoy boudoir so I need to make sure I get the lens most efficient for that niche, something for low light that says “moody”. Yet I also need to be able to shoot a family of ten outside in the sunshine. So, needless to say, youtube has been my friend for a good few weeks. Who shoots what, with what kind of lens, and most importantly, why?

I did a family photoshoot at McMenamins Edgefield this weekend. Such a gorgeous photography venue, and the family was such a pleasure to work with. I am so grateful for all the experiences, the feedback and the love we are getting.

I was also able to shoot Senior photos for my baby cousin recently in St. Helens, Oregon. Again, we found some superb backdrops that we took full advantage of. My cup runneth over…

I have two boudoir shoots, possibly three on the books for later this month that I am so super excited for. We are unsure of how best to share our boudoir portfolio at this stage? We could have a page on this site… a little uncomfortable. I am thinking more along the lines of a private page that once you reach out for more information we send you the link? Or we could do boudoir viewing only in person at this time? What do you guys think? How best to keep it classy?

Last but definitely not least, we have permission from Camp Howard to do a Christmas/ Holidays style photo shoot at their venue. Another stunning backdrop to work with. On Saturday, October 24th and Sunday October 25th we will be doing mini sessions for anyone wanting Christmas photos done. The majority of the photos will be taken in Mary’s Lodge Dining Hall in front of the massive stone fireplace decorated for the season, or outside on the deck with Mt. Hood as the backdrop. We will also offer a more harvest style backdrop with straw bales and pumpkins. Hot apple cider and other warm drinks will be offered in the hopes of making it a family friendly adventure of a day. If you are interested in having holiday photos taken, get your name on the list before it fills up.

Wish us luck… the adventures are just beginning!
