Blog Post ‘It begins…’

It really does all begin with just an idea. I have been taking photographs for many years now. I started out with an old 110 camera. (Who remembers what those were?) The film was expensive and developing it was even more expensive and time consuming. Then I moved on to a cheap 35 mm. You almost had to have a degree to thread the film in those cameras. When my mother in law sold me my first digital camera, I thought I had gone to heaven. To see your photos immediately and only print the ones you wanted, wow, I was entering a new world! I quickly began taking my five munchkins on photo shoot excursions. Hunting down new locations, fields of wildflowers, rivers… it was Eastern Idaho, Yellowstone country, I found many beautiful backdrops with which to practice. It was during these times that I began to build an eye for positioning my beautiful tribe.

20 years later, I found myself with my daughter in law, my second grandchild to be, my yard and my eye behind a camera… I must have seen some maternity boudoir shots online or something, I had an idea of what I was going for, but no real vision. I had that poor girl dressed up and posing before either of us caught on to what we were doing. Unbeknownst to me at the time, that was my first real boudoir shoot. I learned a lot, was very enlightened. Maybe this is why I have such a connection with maternity boudoir?

Where boudoir is concerned, I have come a long way in the last year and a half. Done a lot of researching poses and lighting, finding out what I love as well as what I’m not so sure about. Milkbath boudoir… yep! That is my nitch! Every shoot I take turns out better than the last, each are so totally inspiring and beautiful! They really tell an empowering story about the women, as well as the photographer. Lets see what the month of October brings??
